Like I have mentioned before, for 10 years I was a nanny to 3 boys before I became an RN. The boys always dressed cute but it was usually the same thing. Jeans and a t shirt, shorts and a t shirt, sweats, maybe accessorize with a pair of rain boots. Boys clothes have defiantly come a long way even in that short span, but there is just something about girl’s clothes. Maybe it is just me, but I’m excited about the prospect of Trumpette socks and tights, filly bottoms, dresses and hair braiding. This might stem from the fact that when I was little my mom tended towards the more natural, hippie side. I loved how we were raised but from the ages of 5 through 8 I lusted over Gunne Sax dresses, braids with ribbons and feathers. I also wanted my parents to make my middle name Farrah (after Charlie’s Angels). Yeah that was a no go.

Today I was killing time and went to the mall. I was wandering through Janie and Jack, looking at all the cute clothes knowing Tadd would have a heart attack if I spent $50 on a tiny dress. I ran into my friend Michelle and she said Gymboree was having a big sale, everything in the store was an additional 30% off. So I went over because sometimes they have some cute things. Well they had this nautical line that I thought was adorable. I got a dress with diaper cover, sailor shirt and little pants. All for $18! What a deal. In the back of my mind I knew Tadd would say something because he hates nautical themed clothes. It is probably a step below madras plaid and that is saying something.

I came home, set the clothes out on the couch and waited for him to come home and say something. This is how it played out:

T: (walks through the door) Hi Honey.

H: Hi

T: (Stops dead in his tracks) What is that?!

H: Gymboree was having a big sale. Arent they cute?

T: You know I hate sailor stuff. AND YOU GOT ONE FOR DERBY?! There is NO WAY I’m dressing my son like a girl!

H: They’re both girl outfits, cant you tell?! AND I got a great deal on them. Guess how much.

(Now I should pause and explain that if Tadd doesn’t like something he will purposely low ball the amount so the real amount will sound like too much for the item. I’m not sure if that is a CPA thing or just ‘Tadd is such a stubborn hard head’ thing)

T: $3

H: Forget it! I hate when you do that….hmph

Judge for yourself, I think they are adorable. How you would think one is for a boy I will never know.

In other news the twins have gotten the hang of kicking me. It was only a couple of days ago that I could really feel them moving and now it seems one of them has a bionic leg. Perhaps it was the candy bar I ate earlier….
