Loen is all about cooking these days. She will cry when I’m in the kitchen, big crocodile tears rolling down her cheeks as she says “Mama I want to coooooooook with yoooooooou”. I have not managed to get the point across that she is still too young to use the stove. If there is mixing or ingredients to measure shes my gal but there is only so much of that to do.
Loen’s speciality dish is cinnamon pecan pancakes. This morning she added dried cranberries to hers. There is a lot to stir with that recipe.
When we were in Oakdale my mom made turnovers with the twins and cousin Iain while I took a nap. When I came to check on them later there was sugar in Loen’s hair and ears. They enjoyed it though. Derby on the other hand just likes to stand on the step stool. He is isn’t big on eating his creation unless it is chocolate.

Rebecca has just started to love cooking with me too. She used to sit still in her high chair and talk to me while I cooked, now she pushes a chair up to the counter and tries to help. It’s cute but it makes it 100x harder because my kitchen is so tiny! I’d love to be able to have a little station with a learning tower where I could put her to work. Maybe in my next house…
