My kids are a little forceful when it comes to showing their twin affection. I’ll find Derby pulling Loen down by her hair so he can give her a kiss or Loen trying to hug Derby but with her arms locked around his windpipe as he struggles to breathe. They are very aware of each of other lately, whoever gets up first in the morning will look for the other and proceed to wake them up. Usually Derby is up first and starts calling out “D-D”. We’re not sure why he calls Loen that but we’re thinking because she points at him and says “Dirty” he must think that is her name. Today Jo (our babysitter) got held up at the dentist so I was going to take Loen with me to therapy. As we are leaving Jo pulls up so she got Loen out of the car to play with her. When we got to therapy Derby kept crawling to the door saying “D-D, D-D”. He must have thought I left her in the car. When we got home they were squealing each others name like it had been months since they last saw each other.
Shoreline Park, Labor Day morning

Derby practicing walking

Loen working on her upper body strength

This turned out to be a bad idea as she wanted to push the whole way back but we had to leave and then the screaming started

If one kid is on a horse the other has to get on. Thank goodness we have two

Loen had to get on with Derby

Then I thought she was giving him a hug but really she was trying to yank him off the horse

As you can see I had to intervene

Loen showing her new “circus trick”. I keep waiting for the day the kids will need to get stitches. I can hear it now: “What happened Mrs. McKenzie?” “Ummmm, circus tricks?”

But…moooom! It’s just FIERCE love, that’s all!
I hear you on the double horses and the possibility of stitches. Emma does the same thing on ours, but Logan doesn’t.
Maybe he calls her DD because the “L” sounds are hard to pronounce? Emma still doesn’t call Logan by name. He’s still just “Baby”.
