Now we give the kids equal love and adoration but for the past couple of days Derby has had a little more attention given to him by us. What with the cast, DAFO, extensive therapy schedule and walking he has a lot to pay attention to! When I am at therapy Loen gets the undivided attention of Joanna (affectionately called Jo by the twins) so she isnt being ignored by any means but she wants all eyes to be on her almost all of the time. Yesterday I had Derby on my lap working with him when she came over, sat on my lap and tried to shove Derby out. Today after therapy I left Derby with Joanna and took Loen out for a little mom and me time. We broke out the single stroller for the first time (I was shocked how light and maneuverable it was) and went to the mall. I had to return a pair of shoes that I had bought for Derby and then off to Loen’s holy land, AKA Claire’s Boutique. We were in there only once before and I didn’t buy her anything but you could tell she was enamored. It is a store that is floor to ceiling junk; sparkly rings, faux fur purses, Hello Kitty paraphernalia, tiaras and wands. Her eyes got as big as saucers she was so excited. She found a few (many) items and I paid for them. The salesman was nice enough to cut off the tag so she could wear a set of neon bangles right away. Once we left the store I looked at Loen and said “What do you want now?”, she looked up with a smile and said “More…cup-cake”. I couldn’t believe it! She is getting so smart. After all that she kept saying “Dirty? Dirty?” which is what she calls Derby. I asked if she wanted Derby and she nodded her head yes. As jealous as she gets over the attention Derby receives she still wants to be around him all the time. We got home and he was already down for his nap so she modeled all of her prizes for Jo and I.
