I took Derby to the barber today because I have come to realize that I may be handy in many things but cutting hair is not one of them. Occasionally I do a decent job but after trying to trim a squirming kid’s hair in the tub I decided I was over it. We went to a real barber shop not a specialty kiddie cut place. There were cantankerous old men wearing slippers, sports and auto magazines were lying about. I thought he would get a boy haircut. I guess the mama wasn’t ready for the results though.

After she lopped off a hunk of hair in the front she turns to me and asks “Is that ok?”. What if it wasn’t?! Do they do baby hair extensions? Super glue it back on? I took a deep breath and said fine. I’m going to call it his summer hairdo. It is cute, just shocking to see my little boy shorn….
