So here I thought Loen was being extra sensitive because Derby was picking on her. But when she awoke from her nap at 4:30 screaming and holding her ears I knew something was wrong. Of course something would go wrong at 4:30 ON A FRIDAY. She must have realized the doctors office was closing. I called and spoke with the advice nurse who told me to bring her to urgent care. We lucked out because we got there right before they had a rush of patients. We got in quickly, she was diagnosed with double ear infections (which would explain why she would scream when Derby touched her head) and we were able to get our prescription filled all under 30 minutes. Sometimes the planets align when you need them to!
The one nice comment from the trauma doc was when he was asking her history. I didn’t really go into it but I said she was a 24 weeker. Later he was cooing at her and said she was really tiny. Of course the mama feathers got ruffled and I said I thought she was doing well for a 24 WEEKER. To which he replied “Oh I thought you said she was a 34 weeker. She looks wonderful for a micro preemie.” Damn skippy they do!
So now they are both in bed and sleeping peacefully. In no time at all Loen will have fully recovered to regain her position on the throne!
