the journey of our twins…

One step closer to an AARP card

I turned 35 on Sunday. I really have no problem with getting older, I feel pretty content with my life. I have a wonderful husband, two beautiful children, a career (that I will go back to one day) but the one thing that drives me nuts is how much gray hair I’m getting. And that isn’t totally age related either. All of my siblings started getting gray hair in their 20’s. I just noticed I’m getting a big stripe ala Bonnie Raitt. It is time to go to the salon! The other thing I have noticed is I forget how old I am sometimes. I have to do the 1973 minus 2008 thing.

We took the twins to their first musical on Saturday. Faux-bro Andrew was in Fiddler on the Roof. Tadd said it was perfect that the first play they went to is the one where my name comes from. It was hard for Tadd to follow because Loen was being fussy and he was in charge of calming her down. I kept trying to whisper the plot to bring him up to speed. At one point Tadd leans over and says “How fitting she falls in love with a scholar”. I explained he was confused (he was thinking of Hodel’s character) and Hava was the one who runs off with the Russian guard and gets disowned. Nothing like being named after the black sheep. Then on Sunday we went to the Santa Barbara Museum of Art to see Over Rainbows and Down Rabbit Holes. A very cultural weekend indeed. That should offset all the crap I have been letting the twins watch on TV!

Saturday night we had some friends over for a BBQ. Unfortunately I didn’t take many pictures but Tadd decided to be artsy and took lots of photos without a flash. So no photos of the yummy strawberry lemonade cupcakes that Michelle made for my birthday. Zip zero of friends and their cute babies. Guess you’ll just have to take our word for it.

Tadd’s other dad Lee (Jim is Tadd’s biological dad and Lee is the dad who raised him from age 3 on) and his wife Deb came over this weekend. This was the first time the were able to see the twins. It was great to hang out and the twins were spoiled with cute outfits and lots of cuddles.

That is a lot of posting with pictures in the last couple of days. I should be in the clear for AT LEAST a couple of weeks now.

Happy Birthday! I too just had to buy some Clairol hair dye! Lovely 35.

LOVE the pics of the kids.

    The chub! Aiee!

Clearly I am not referring to Loen….

Happy birthday, Hava! I think a streak of white hair would look very cool! Lots of characters in sci-fi/fantasy novels have silver swooshes through their hair! Oh, and comics, too: think Reed Richards from Fantastic Four or Rogue from X-men.

OK I just geeked out on you. Ask Tadd, he’ll (probably) know!

Oh, I remember the days when gray hair was my only worry. Things have become a lot more high maintenance since then . . . wrinkles, sagging, age spots . . . it just keeps getting better and better! But I’m a fauxma now, so I don’t care! Happy birthday, Hava! We love you!

Ah yes, the notorious ’skunk stripe’. I’ve been sporting one for nearly a decade now, and I’m younger than you.

The best trick is semi-permanent dyes. The grey then looks like a natural highlight and as the dye fades it’s less obvious as the greys grow out - more of a blend that way.

The babes are looking great! Hope you had a wonderful b-day.
