With heavy hearts

When I was on the high risk OB unit back in October we heard it through the grapevine there was a mother in the room next to us who also had premature rupture of membranes (PROM). A couple of days after the twins were born we learned she had given birth and her son was in the NICU. Little Eli was in the same POD (or NICU room) as us. Even though the nurses couldnt talk about what was going on we could figure out from the vibe in the NICU how the other babies were doing. For the longest time our POD was a little posse of micro-preemies; Loen, Derby, Jose and Eli. Jose has gone home. Loen and Derby are still in the NICU. With tear filled eyes I write to say that little Eli has passed on. I cannot imagine what his parents are going through. I only think of what it would feel like to lose one of mine. Our hearts and prayers are with his family.

Little Eli

Oh Little Eli, God must have needed another angel.
