The little ones looked precious last night. Maybe I shouldn’t use the term ‘precious’, because in the back of my mind I say it with Gollum’s accent from Lord of the Rings. How about ‘adorable’? Yup, I will say they were downright adorable. I still feel as if I am just visiting someone elses incredibly beautiful babies, like they don’t really belong to us yet. Soon enough that will all be a distant memory…I hope. Today I got emails from two mothers who shared our NICU experience. It was wonderful to hear from others who could really understand where we are. Not to mention I felt a connection because I had seen their children’s hand prints on the graduate wall. I cannot wait until next October when Cottage Hospital has their annual preemie reunion at the zoo. Then Loen and Derby can make a hand print tile that lines the hall to the NICU.
Derby smiles

We took pictures of the twins posing with their monkeys again. Derby and Loen at 5 weeks with their Blabla monkeys
It looks like the monkey is putting a wrestling hold on Derby. A little simian smackdown

Now at 10.5 weeks

Yes, Derby is still on CPAP. While he hates it he is still being a little lazy with totally breathing on his own. Hopefully he can go to nasal cannula in the next couple of days.

But! But Gollum LOVED that ring!
Oh, I suppose adorable covers it better.
BTW, you and Tadd are doing a fantastic job. All four of you have come a long way, which is important to remember on the rough days. Each day puts you closer to going home.
