My Grandpa Kirk told me the twins had his Viking blood, hence the reason they were such tough little fighters. Last night his old Viking heart gave out. A man who survived a horrific shipwreck did not survive lung cancer. His seafaring years exposed him to chemicals meant to make ships fireproof, but made men sick. I spoke to him before the surgery to try and remove the cancerous lobe of his lung. He sounded like my old Grandpa, not at all ill. The surgery turned out to be too much for him and he never really recovered.

I’m sorry the twins will never get to meet their Great Grandpa but there sure will be some great bedtime stories to tell them.

    Hava,
so sorry to hear about your grandfather; it sounds like he had an amazing life which will, indeed make for great bedtime stories… (jot those down now while they’re fresh in your memory….!)

Oh, Hav. There is grief in the waiting, and grief in the loss. He had such a life — a great life. The babies will know him in stories (and we’ll all get to insist they’re true). Love you, sweetie.
