the journey of our twins…

DOH!

November 13th, 2007 · 9 Comments

I said before I’m a little scattered. I am forgetting MAJOR events, maybe I shouldn’t blog at 11:30 at night. Not last night but the night before (24 robbers came knockin at my door…) the nurse asked if I would like to hold Loen. OH MY GOD, would I ever! Tadd had a look on his face that said he was happy yet he wanted to too. Turns out I didn’t really get to “hold” her, more like I got to lift her up in the incubator for a few moments. She is heavier than I imagined and I had to be careful so I wouldn’t jostle her breathing tube. Afterwards I gently laid her back down. The nurse asked “Wasn’t that nice to have a little snuggle?”. I wanted to say “No! I want more, much, much more!”. Then I looked over at Tadd, who quietly said “I call dibs on Derby, promise me I get to hold Derby first”. You would think we were talking about who gets to ride shotgun. I told Tadd I had a hard time promising, because what if they offer Derby to me? I would call him at work but if he couldn’t make it I don’t know if I could say “No, put him back in his incubator. Tadd called dibs you know.”

Wouldn’t you know it this was the first time we went to the NICU without the camera. We were able to capture the moment with a cell phone:

We have been told that the babies are on prayer chains around the world. People we don’t know tell us they are thinking of them. It is wonderful to have so much positive energy geared towards the twins. Thank you to all that include them in their prayers. Thanks to our friends (even acquaintances) who have brought us dinner or invited us over for a quick meal. Tadd and I are usually so tired we would get take out, but the past few nights with the Puzder’s, Gaylord’s and the McClure’s was a welcome relief. Good food and a break from the NICU definitely helped us. The support has been wonderful. Thanks……

Oh Hava, you finally got to hold your daughter – that brings tears to my eyes – can’t imagine what that moment was like – I’m so happy for you and that Tadd was there to watch, he’ll get his turn before long. I’m glad you didn’t forget to tell us.

The tadpoles look much more animated and have grown since the first photos posted. Amazing. So excited to hear you are another step closer to holding the babies in your nurturing arms.
We continue to keep all of you in our prayers.

    Hava and Tadd,
the babies look so much bigger and stronger since the last pictures I saw. It is amazing how much one or two weeks make. I believe the day is not so far away when you will post a picture of you holding both babes in your arms, safe and happy.
I send my love to all,
    Wendy

Dear Tadd, Hava and the gang,
I was so excited to hear your news. I hope that the day will come soon that you will be able to take them out of the incubator and hold them close to your heart. That will be one glorious day. I feel helpless being in Michigan and not being able to help with anything. The only thing I can do is keep praying and that I will do. Love, Carol

Tadpole Fanclub — it’s bigger than Menudo!

Hang in there, you raggedy parents. You are dealing with SO much. Your humor, your perspective, and your love are towing you through right now. Love you.
