Blanketeer

November 5th, 2007 · 4 Comments

Now MY babies are enjoying a plethora of beautiful blankets, they are already sooooo spoiled and they are only 12 days old. I’m okay with that, I figure it makes up for all the other little hardships they have to face. Unfortunately not all the babies in our NICU are so lucky. Yesterday one of the nurses was talking about how we get to put Derby’s blanket back up since they were turning off his bili lights (YEA! Our babies are both bili light free for now). She had thought the blankets were from the volunteer cupboard. Well, we set her straight about that one! She then mentioned they just looked a lot like the Project Linus blankets that are donated. It could be because I sent Dee the Project Linus pattern to make the sock monkey blankets. Anyways long story short, the nurse was saying they haven’t received any blankets in a long time. If you live in Santa Barbara and can sew, knit or crochet (they even have a no sew pattern) I urge you to consider becoming a blanketeer. Project Linus is a wonderful organization that donates homemade blankets to children in the hospital. I have made blankets for them in the past and it is a good feeling knowing it is going to a family that needs a little love. You don’t even need to be in Santa Barbara they are a national organization. To find out more click below

I finished six more blankets for Loen and Derby yesterday (four ‘bator blankies and two Linus-sized). I feel that now I am almost a blankie expert. I will start making blankets for Project Linus once I know the tadpoles are fully-stocked! Love, Fauxma D

    Hi guys-

Can you email me your new address (I think that you moved, right?) We have something in the works for the Tadpoles, but I need to know where to send it :)

    Thanks!

Cole received a “Project Linus” blanket when we lived in the hospital and I never f0rgot how happy I was when I received it. I hope others will make a blanket. For the parents, it is a wonderful feeling to know someone out there is thinking of you and your baby.

At the rate Dee has been manufacturing blankets, I am sure Project Linus will soon be overwhelmed. Of course, she will lack the inspiration of making them for little Derby and Loen but you know how much she loves babies. I will assume my normal role of financing the project. I have only been in St. Louis a couple of hours and I already miss being able to head up to the hospital and see your little ones. Love to you all, Andy
