Before having major surgery they have you sign a paper saying you understand all the pros and cons, there is also a part saying you are not to sign any legal documents for 24 hours until you have recovered from the anesthesia. Perhaps they should have mothers sign one of those before giving birth saying she shouldn’t make any important decisions for….months. It is amazing how forgetful I am. Looking back I realized I didn’t write about Derby’s big news. It wasn’t til someone left a comment about poop that I remembered.
DERBY POOPED
Granted this was on Friday and he hasn’t pooped since. But it is progress for my little man. Wouldn’t you know it I didn’t witness said poop. I was in the pumping room and Dee stopped by and she saw it. I seem to missing all kinds of things: poop, eye opening, 1st time feeds. I blame it on the pumping…and the lack of sleep.
I am actually doing a little better with the sleep thing. When I have been overly tired I was super emotional. If I opened the twins porthole to say goodnight I could barely get out the words “I love you” without choking up. Friday everything seemed to catch up with me. I was sitting on a chair next to Loen when I nodded off. I jerked awake and almost dropped the camera. I decided I needed to go home and take a nap. I got home but by the time I pumped and cleaned things up it was almost time to meet Tadd’s family for dinner. So dinner, back to the NICU to say goodnight to the babies, go home, pump and set my alarm for 3 hours later. Well I’m not sure if I set the alarm wrong or Tadd and I slept through it because I woke up at 7:30 am Saturday. I felt so refreshed! I felt like my chest weighed 20 POUNDS!!! Tadd said it looked like I had a bad stripper boob job, I thought it was more along the lines of Posh Spice. After pumping 13 ounces I was deflated and feeling a little like my old self. Sleep makes everything feel a lot more doable. The twins nurse suggested I skip the 3 am pumping session and just get a 5 hour block of sleep every night. I tried that last night and I think it is our new plan of action. I should be a little less zombie like now.

I must say, it was the most beautiful little poop I’ve ever seen! If I had had my camera, Hava, I would have taken a picture for you. Glad you’re getting more sleep, and I will drop off a pink feather boa to go with your new accessories. XOXO

Glad to hear that Derby pooped and that Loen is progressing on her feeds. 5 hours of sleep feels like a full night when you have only been sleeping 3 hrs at a time. We are praying for you guys. “Come near to God and He will come near to you” James 4:8
