4 Out of 5

October 26th, 2007 · 6 Comments

Currently, 4 out of 5 McKenzie’s that live in Santa Barbara are in Cottage Hospital. What are the chances? Hava is recovering from the c-section, the twins are in the NICU, and my dad, Jim, is in the CCU.

With all that was going on yesterday I almost forgot that my dad had to go get an angiogram (it is a test where they put a tube into his femoral artery and inject dye. Then they can take an xray to see if he has an arterial blockage). I remembered and asked Hava where they would be preforming the test. She said the second floor so I headed that way. I got down to the cath lab and they told me he was in the CCU (cardiac care unit). I went back up to the 3rd floor and checked on Jim. Tests showed he had 90% blockage. They placed 2 stents yesterday and 2 additional stents today.

The plan is for my dad to get out of here on Saturday and Hava on Sunday.  Not sure on the twins, but it will be a while.

On that note, not much to report on the babies, which I think is good.  The nurses are all saying that they are looking ok, which is the best that we can hope for right now. And Hava and I are doing fine and keeping good spirits.

Technically, it’s 5 out of 5 Tadd….it should be considered as such since you spend 99% of the day there that YOU are “living there” too. Glad there’s no real news to report on the twins. Give our best to Jimbo too…I have pumpkin bread for you and Hava….maybe brent and I can take a walk over there tomorrow? I want to see Grant’s hand on the NICU “wall of fame” anyways….Huggs

    Tadd and Hava
You are most amazing, I am so in awe of you both. The two of you have showed such style and grace through your ordeal.
    You just keep on going.
Give my love to your dad and the sweet tadpoles.
    Love, Tracie

Hey Hava & Todd! Got your note.

I have to tell you, reading what you’re going through makes *me* cry. You are so incredibly brave and every day I think about what you’re going through and consider myself incredibly lucky. I hope the time flies and before you know it, you are taking the twins home and spending night after night sleepless but eternally grateful for Loen and Derby, home at last.
