Awake

October 15th, 2007 · 17 Comments

We’re all awake (3 of us anyways. Tadd needs to sleep) and it is 4:30 in the morning. Even though Tadd has said it before, thank you to everyone for the help, snacks, movies, trashy magazines, flowers and especially the words of encouragement.

The first night I did not want to talk to anyone. I just wanted to be left alone or so I thought. Dee and Andy rushed down and strong armed their way into the hospital. Not having my own parents close by they are the next best thing. It helped to have them close even though I didn’t say much. Andy was able to calm Tadd down a bit which was good for the both of us.

My mom came down yesterday. All my siblings and little Iain are here. Technically no one under the age of 14 can be on the high risk OB floor but they managed to sneak little Iain in for awhile. When the nurse would knock on the door Iain would hide behind a chair, he thought it was a game. No one said anything even though they saw him, I was grateful.

Last night big Iain, Souther and I played Scattergories. Either the guys were loopy from lack of sleep or Iain was hoping for creative answer points. The levity was welcome. Iain did not get points for the answers below:

  • Appliances: nut cracker, jack hammer, “the dripper”. I don’t think he knows what an appliance is.
  • Toiletries: Trying to get double word points with “shaving syrup”. Thank god I didn’t get contractions from laughing so hard.

The nurses have been wonderful. Hospital food sucks. Our friends and family are the best!

Me and the twins are going to try and get some sleep now. That is about all were allowed to do, except get up to use the bathroom!

Hava and Tadd, praise for today that your babies are still inside Hava. surviving these last 24 or so hours had to be a big milestone for you both. I read your website and of course see Tamie everyday, just wanted you to know that I am praying for all of you to have the strength to deal with this. Tamie is okay until she has to talk to someone who doesn’t know, like Lea, who called last night at Schelkes. Then Tamie cannot hold back the tears. Jerry is home for a few days and we were over there last night.
Hava said she wanted to be a neonatal nurse, maybe this is why.

I just wanted to note that Iain should have gotten points for shaving syrup.

Hi, guys… I’ve been out of town awhile and am just catching up… I was shocked and now (a little) relieved for you and the family. My prayers and postive thoughts are headed your way.

Dear Lord please show this family your almighty mercy and grace; bestow up on this family two precious healthy children. Oh Father, give this family the opportunity to love and raise these precious babies in your word.

Family, we are praying for you in Texas.

Watch out for the lentil soup. I don’t know about your hospital, but in mine it was wretched. Glad to hear things are stabilizing.

    Hang in there!
