The Rundown

September 3rd, 2007 · No Comments

I’ve been meaning to write a post about going to visit my parents and the past week, but exhaustion and my lifelong problem with procrastination has kept me from it. We also meant to takes lots of pictures of everyone but ended up with 50 of my nephew. Did I mention I didn’t get my Its-It?

Oakdale was Oakdale. Hot. I had wanted to take little Iain down to the river and maybe go out to dinner. Here is a rundown of what really happened:

  • We left at 6:00 am Friday morning. Got to Oakdale at 12:30. Even though Tadd has a GPS there was still some yelling about a map and which road, blah, blah, blah. I hate when he does that because he asks right as we’re approaching an intersection and I cant find my bearings fast enough. I thought that is what the GPS was for.

  • My mom had just gotten home from night shift at the hospital when we arrived. Usually she is home around 8 am but one of her patients had a Code Blue and she was there a lot longer. She was wiped out and I’ll admit I was a little tired from sitting in the car (that makes no sense I know), so we all went to take a nap. Fast forward to 7 pm. Everyone wakes up and the day is shot. Bianca made a lovely meal. I think the only dish she knows how to make, Tortellini Alfresco.

  • Tadd and I woke up early on Saturday and decided to wake up little Iain. I know Bianca loved that. We got him dressed and walked to Starbucks and to look at the trains

  • Tadd, Bianca, my older brother Iain and his friend Kathy went down part of the Stanislaus River in a raft with a bunch of beer. Um, I stayed home and took a nap.

  • Tadd came home happy and kept on drinking. I played with Iain and pretty much did nothing. My mom made a HUGE meal of grilled steak, tri-tip, vegetable tian, salad and for dessert, mixed berry pavlova. It is a meringue dessert top with fresh whipped cream and berries. I kept calling it Pavlov and bringing up images of slobbering dogs. All that food made me tired and I rested. I think Tadd took a nap.

  • Sunday morning my mom made another huge meal. It was delicious and nap inspiring. We left to go back home at 1:00.

As you can see from the course of the weekend I did nothing but eat and sleep. I hung out with my mom and looked at fabric samples for the twins bedding, but that was about it. Oakdale morphs me into a huge slug. I left the house once to go get coffee and that was it.

Some random Oakdale shots. Little Iain likes to show you his “emotion faces”:

Happy Face

“Happy” Hangin in his TV box fort

Scared

“Scared”

Mad

“Mad” This is a very hard look for him as it involves rolling his eyeballs into the back of his head. It looks painful.

Tadd and Bianca

Iains

Little Iain was flicking out his new lightsaber. Right after this picture was taken he flipped backwards from big Iain’s grip. You have to hand it to him, he caught him by the foot right before he hit the ground.

Naked Iain

Iain had to go outside and get his tractor before taking his bath.
